Serving People of the South West

Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
As Western Australia’s leading hazard management agency, DFES performs a critical role coordinating emergency services for a range of natural disasters and emergency incidents threatening life and property. Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)

In the case of an emergency, SES volunteers can:
Conduct search and rescue operations,
Deliver essential food and supplies to isolated communities,
Help evacuate people in times of danger,
Protect communities during flooding,
Secure damaged buildings,
Assist with major incident management and coordination, and more importantly,
Provide information to the community

SESVA
State Emergency Service Volunteers Association (SESVA) role is to represent the views of SES volunteers to all levels of Government, DFES and other agencies on all matters affecting the SES volunteers and the way in which we serve our communities. SESVA

The SES has much more to offer than simply being an emergency response organisation.

In our region we also assist with bushfire support and make short-term emergency repairs to homes in the aftermath of storms, cyclones and floods. Becoming a volunteer provides the opportunity to learn new skills from rescue techniques and first aid, to map reading, navigation, communications and leadership.
