There are 70 volunteer SES Units around the state, from Albany in the south to Kununurra in the north. These volunteers are backed up by paid staff who provide coordination and organisational support.
Bunbury SES volunteers are a dedicated group of people who care about our community - especially when assistance is needed. Some members take ‘action’ roles such as land search and rescue, while others work behind the scenes as radio operators, in directing operations, or in admin, welfare, and planning and logistics.
The SES is expected to respond to a wide variety of emergency events and as such, they train regularly. This training occurs weekly on Monday evenings (except for public holidays) from 1830 hours to approximately 2100 hours, with weekend training also available. Members are encouraged to join their peers at training as often as they can, to ensure that they are safe and ready to respond.
Each year in the South West the SES receives hundreds of calls for help, which is why we are always ready to recruit volunteers who are willing to give their time to assist others.
Every volunteer receives an initial introduction to all aspects of the SES, basic training and safety requirements. Ongoing training is then based on your individual preferences and capabilities and your role in the Bunbury SES unit.
Feel free to come along to our Unit on a Monday evening from 1830 hours (except on public holidays) to meet our volunteers and experience a training session.
